Resting and Nesting

It's been a resting, nesting weekend! Much more nesting than resting. Friday night we got to celebrate Lainey's birthday at mom's house. Uncle Bruce and his friend Eliza were in town on their way to Laredo. We got to tour his truck! Read more on Jen's blog: http://tierd.wordpress.com/2013/02/23/birthdaychinese-new-year/
Brant and I did all kinds of catching up at the house. Saturday afternoon he went fishing with his friends at our river place while Mom and I made some returns and she helped me finish getting what we'll need right away at Babies R Us. I finally bought some Dreft and have been washing all of baby's sheets and things today. Smells like baby goodness!!!
We've always wondered what our baby will look like. We look so different from one another. We will soon find out! Brant was a very cute baby!

Brant sent this picture of our first baby to me while I was at the grocery store today. Curious?
Time again for another week! Veggies and fruit are cut and eggs are boiled for lunches. Just need to finish up some laundry and we're ready to go! Whew! I don't know how many more weeks I can go, go, go!!! We'll see! Exciting!

Showering

My faculty threw us a very nice baby shower today. Two of the kindergarten teachers are expecting in April, so they threw a joint party for the three of us. They are both having girls. The cupcakes were amazing! Shelley decorated everything in such a cute way. I think we are ready for Baby Burris! (Still not sure on a name. Want to see him first!)

Cara's baby shower in Houston was very nice. I love this picture of her. She looks great! I hope she doesn't mind me posting these! Love you, Cara!
After the shower, we went to Cara and Patrick's house to see the nursery and they cooked a nice steak dinner. We sat and chatted and eventually, the shirts came up! Ha!

I am now in town for good and getting ready for the big day. I need to pack a bag. I need to do a LOT of things. We are big Amazing Race fans. When the first episode of this season started last night, I said, "We're going to have a baby before this race is over!" Brant said as his work meeting was over today, someone asked how I was doing. He said, "This pregnancy thing is easy!" He said everyone laughed at him like, "Just you wait! Your world is about to be turned upside down!" We have a lot to look forward to! Better sleep while we can!

Happy Valentine's Day!

 Happy Valentine's Day!
A great day AND celebrating 34 weeks today!

My sweet Valentine

We both look a little rough after work! Long days for both of us!
It's been a very busy week. Last weekend, we went to a couples wedding shower for Adrian and Steve at a haunted hotel on a ranch in the middle of nowhere in Provident City, Texas. The weekend was filled with skeet shooting, beer pong, poker, LRC, billiards, good food, music and fun.

This swing was SOOOO high and so much fun and relaxing.
These boys made me get on and swung me and baby safe and high!
The most fun physical thing I've been able to do in a while!

My EC library friends threw me a beautiful shower on Tuesday at Melodye's home. Both of baby's grandmas were able to make it. So nice and special.

Jennifer made a sock monkey blanket for the baby! SO special and soft!
More talent-Diane made the cake!

We had a great doctor appointment on Monday. This weekend, Mom and I are going to Houston for Cara's baby shower. It's my last road trip before baby! Last night, Brant and I went to our breastfeeding class. We both got a lot out of it. I really enjoy doing those things together, because there's not much we can do together like that. It was great. He's going to be such a great Dad. We had a wonderful teacher/nurse. I'm not going to write too much tonight. I'm so tired! Looking forward to some weekends at home soon! Goodnight and Happy Valentine's Day!

Lullaby

I wanted to choose a song to frequently sing so Baby will recognize it when outside the womb. Brant and I went out to Specht's Saloon for dinner on a Friday night several months ago and heard a little band of older folks play. The lady sang this song and I loved it. I had never heard it and don't really know if the title is "Lullaby." As far as I can tell it is and the Dixie Chicks wrote it. When this older woman sang it, it sounded so sweet and exactly what I wanted to sing to my baby. I took a note on my phone to look for what I thought would be called "Is Forever Enough." I'm hoping if I sing it enough the baby will recognize it outside the womb. I know Lainey had a song like this as a newborn. Whenever she was crying, anyone could sing "Halfway Down the Stairs," and she would immediately stop and listen. It was amazing. My mom also had a song she sung to John like this when he was a baby. She made it up and I still remember the tune and all her different versions. (I also have been reading the same books to him over and over.) If it doesn't work, it's ok, I'm still bonding!
Here is the baby hearing this song for the first time. You can also get a glimpse of all the to-dos in the nursery at this point, Lacey sniffing around, loving on me and my lovely black socks! The baby finally moves about half way through if you look closely!

"Lullaby"
They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

33 weeks today. This week is the first week I have been extremely tired. From what I hear, it's only going to get worse. I'm a little nervous about driving home in the afternoons each day-and it's such a long drive. Third trimester has definitely set in! Bigger things I am nervous about: breastfeeding and money! Probably very typical. God will take care of us and I will keep singing! 49 days to go!

Couples Shower

On Saturday, our wonderful friends, Carolyn and Ryan, Adrian and Steve, Anne and Jessica hosted a couples shower for us. The guys are all fraternity brothers and the girls have come to love each other SO much-it is unusual to "click" with a group of women like we have. I love you, girls!
The guys guessed how much I measured around the belly. It was funny because they put a lot of thought into it, measuring themselves for comparison, etc. Brant didn't measure, he just cut the material off the spool and WON! He got it exact too. I guess he just knows by hugging me! They also had a game where there were frozen baby boys in ice cubes and whoever's "water broke" in their drink first, (making baby float,) won!
Again, we feel so loved and so thankful for our friends.
