Terrible 2s? We're LOVING It!

My little buddy. He is polite, sweet, cooperative, loving, funny and fun. He loves to laugh and do anything outside. There are a few two-year-old things we're working on like sitting to eat at dinner for more than 2 minutes, throwing food in the car and a couple of biting incidents, (he's just tried that one out on me and on himself, thank goodness.) Most of all, I am so very proud of him.
Funny little things I want to remember about these days:
  • when repeating what he says to clarify, he says, "OKAY!" like it was your idea and it sounds fantastic. (You want to watch Cars? OKAY!)
  • ability to use his schema and connect "bad guys" in books..."He is like Chick Hicks."
  • when playing with his toys I often hear him say, "Have a great day!"
  • while listening to books, he thinks the characters are looking at him, "He's looking at me!" He also does this with animals, real and stuffed.
  • When I say,"we can do that tomorrow," he says "no, today."
  • 12 weeks into the pregnancy, my dr. suggested I not pick him up as much due to cramping. Ha. He still says "hold you mama." I will never resist that, so I hold him and tell him "I love to hold you." He is able to climb into his car seat and booster seat at the table all by himself now. In fact, he does NOT want help. "Jeffrey do it." Mom said I used to say, "Poddy do do." heehee
  • He has woken up a couple of times and gotten out of bed and we just hear a nice little knocking on his door
  • when going in to his room in the morning he says, "Mornin!" or "It's mornin!" or "It's morning. I waked up!" He says "I wake up in the morning," and at night he says he thinks it's morning because he doesn't want to end the day. He also says "good mornin'" to the deer on walks and animals at the zoo. "Good mornin, deer. Good mornin, guys!"
  • Many nights we sit on the front porch after dinner and eat watermelon. The deer come visit and  we watch the sun go down behind the trees. Such a peaceful way to end the day.
  • He walks into the kitchen and says, "What are making for dinner?"
  • I love his happy walk/run. He's had it for a long time. He goes around kicking his feet out like an Irish jig. So happy.
  • cantaloupe is called camelope
  • He still says "I want Jesus," when I put him to bed. I sing Jesus loves me and he says, "More Jesus," or "Another Jesus." Then I sing Jesus loves the little children and others. He started saying "Jesus poder!" Sounded like he was speaking Spanish. I could not figure it out. It took me a few nights to realize he was saying, "Jesus put it there," part of a song I sing him, "I've got joy down in my heart..."
  • We did a yoga video AJ gave us and really enjoyed it. We told Brant about it when he got home and Jeffrey actually remembered some of the moves and can stand on one leg! He also showed him the shoulder rolls and tree pose.
  • When hiding he says, "where is me?"
  • after a shower or bath he says, "Hold me like a bebe!" and wants the towel around him, swaddled up and cuddled. After a few seconds he tells me, "No, I'm a big boy."
  • If Lacey ever whines, he says, "It's okay, Lacey." (He's calling he by her correct name now too, no more Cece. His "Ls" at the beginning of a word sound like Ys, but seem to be consistant Ls within a word.)
  • Apparently we get a lot of UPS/FedEx boxes. I opened the door, peeked out and closed it the other day. He was watching, shrugged and he said, "No box."
  • Bo gave him a bunch of old Cars character toy cars that he was finished with. He loves them. He'll hold 2 in each hand and say, "I got my new guys."
  • He manages to carefully inspect spines of books on the library shelves and can choose books we have liked before or that he recognizes in some other way, tiny pictures or cool writing. He has chosen some great books!
  • Every once in a while, he'll bump something or fall and say, "I think I'm ok." Sometimes he says it in what seems to be out of the blue. I tell him, "I KNOW you're ok, You're better than ok. You're awesome!"

Here He Is! 18 Weeks!

We got to see our newest addition again! Our wonderful new sonogram technician got me in right on time and Brant wasn't there yet, so we "played around!" We watched him curl up into a ball, stretch out, (which amazingly I couldn't even feel,) and move all around. Once Brant got there, we learned a lot about his anatomy, (as she kept calling his "beautiful anatomy" or "perfect anatomy.") He is measuring about 6 days ahead of what the doctor thought the due date was. All is well. God is SO good. I have been feeling him for about two weeks now-a beautiful thing! The only bad thing is that I can't wear my contacts, so it could be worse! No biggie. It is still amazing, even the second time. SO AMAZING!

Natural Bridge Caverns and Summer Days

We went to the caverns bright and early Monday morning! Bo got to choose our family fun day destination because it was his birthday last week. He is EIGHT years old! Crazy. I thought it would be a cool activity for a hot summer day, but it was surprisingly humid down there! Lots of dark ups and downs for a 2 year old that wanted nothing to do with being held and would have loved to be free of the forced guided tour!

Afterward, we went to the drive through Wild Life Ranch. Jeffrey and I happened to be on the side of the car where all the animals were and when one big deer type thing stuck his entire head in, it scared us both! He clawed his car seat, decided my lap may not be the best place after all! We did have some good laughs.

Walking from the park to the library Wednesday morning
I love this picture of Aza reading to J during an afternoon visit
Jeffrey just wanted a snack and climbed right up to help himself. I said "How did you get up there?" and he just kept repeating, "How you get up there?" Ha. Asking him why questions only get repeated nowadays. He does understand where and what, not why reasoning yet!
Morning deer watch after our walk
Mom, J and I drove to Austin for a quick visit on Friday. We saw John and Katie's new home and met John for lunch. Katie posted this picture on Facebook with the caption, "There are cousins in there! One month apart!"
