Special Time with Naynee and Bo Bo

Good morning, cousins!
We had SO much fun with Lainey and Graham when they came to "camp Burris" and "camp Gigi's" for two weeks. Mom and I either took turns having them or we took all the kids places. We got to have Bo spend the night, (which is what he wanted for his birthday, "a spend the night with Jeffrey!) It was great for Jeffrey. Some of what we did include: made 2 batches of play dough and peanut butter cookies, saw Matisse at SA Museum of art, swam at the pool, played lots of Uno, saw 4 snakes, 3 turtles and 13 ducks at our neighborhood park, read lots of books, listened to music, made music, went to the Witte Museum, painted, played and played and played. We all had a lot of fun.
Play dough!
Not sure about the texture, but it definitely didn't taste good!
Finger painting on the porch turned into feet painting!

Foot masterpiece by all 6 feet!
Train ride at Brackenridge Park (zoo)

Witte museum-the Grossology exhibit was really pretty disgusting!!!
 Toddler veggie play place

Jeffrey found this interesting creature in the grass and walked right over and gave it to Bo. No big deal. Glad it didn't sting!
Next, he found this ball and threw it over and over and over....... All boy!

J kept backing up to sit and Bo's lap. It was so cute to watch them love each other so much!

Learning about the new cars before the big hallway races!

Funny Stuff

Items in our house seem to go missing more and more often these days. The hiding places are getting more and more creative. First it was a cabinet, in a cup in a cabinet, the pretend stove, under the couch. The other day Brant couldn't find his phone, so we called it. We both went in different directions in the house thinking we could hear it. After much searching, calling the phone to listen, getting warmer and finally hot, we found the phone in the dishwasher.
Jeffrey and I walk to the pool several times a week using either the stroller or the wagon. We went one evening recently and I pulled him in the wagon. It was pretty loaded because I figured we'd stay and watch the band for a little while and eat a picnic dinner. (Brant has met us there for dinner before.) Every single time I looked back, something else was way behind us on the side of the road. He was ditching everything! I ran back to get each item and just carried it so he wouldn't throw it out of the wagon again. By the time we got to the pool, I had a precious little boy riding along in his cool wagon and I was carrying the backpack, cooler bag, pool float, water cup, blanket, towel and hat. We had a great time, listened to some music and went home only to find that I had no garage door opener. Augh. I drove back to the park and looked everywhere, asked people if they'd seen it, searched the bathrooms, everything. I slowly drove home looking on the side of the road. Brant assured me it was no big deal, that we could go get another one in the morning, but I really wanted to find it. Jeffrey and I walked back to the park first thing in the morning. What do I find 30 feet from our house? Yep, the garage door opener. AND one of my good straws from MY water cup along the way. What a fun game!
He loves reading, especially before bed. He signs "more" over and over after each book. A couple of funny things lately, from one book, "When you see an enormous elephant, say..." and he'll fill in the blank with "WOW!" or whatever the response is. He points to the correct pictures when certain words are read. He fills in blanks and has fun with it. Last night, I put him down and he was saying, "Wow! Wowowow!" because he knew I thought it was so cute.
  • He picks up our cell phones and says "Aye-oh. Ya ya ya. Ba-byeee."
  • He gets behind Lacey and she shakes her tail RIGHT in his face. He thinks this is HILARIOUS! He also thinks it's very funny to pull her tail. We are teaching him not to do that. Thank goodness Lacey is so sweet!
  • He sleeps with board books and reads them before bed and after waking. He wanted SO BADLY to sleep with his good, new copy of Peter Rabbit, which we read a lot, so I let him. He did just fine with the pages.
  • He likes to sleep with his piggy bank
  • He's becoming aware of when he poops and says poo-poo!
  • When getting to know to some of our neighbors who have the same age boy, I asked how they met. She said they were in college and met at a wedding and then it was kind of funny because she "friended him" on Facebook the next day. I told her the funny part is that they had Facebook in college! We didn't even have cell phones in college!
  • Jeffrey goes out to the backyard and yells, "La La! La La!" and other unspellable baby yelling as he tries to round Lacey up. Just like Daddy!
  • He wants to be naked after bath time. I don't see a problem with it. Brant does. Well, he did both kinds of business on the kitchen floor the other night. Brant was right! But it was funny and cute, (and at least and easy clean up on the tile!)
One day after J's nap it was raining pretty hard. We looked out the window and made a connection to the snow globe on his shelf with Paddington Bear that plays Singing in the Rain. We wound it up, sang the song and watched the rain. After changing his diaper, we went straight out the front door to check it out. He immediately tried to put his hand out like this to feel it. Then we wanted to walk out in it. Why not? I love that our life is slow and uncomplicated for moments like this to happen so often.
Feeling the rain
We had been looking into getting a play table for Jeffrey. Mom found the perfect one at the thrift shop where she volunteers. When she brought it over, Brant put it in the play room and Jeffrey discovered it after eating dinner. HE WAS ASTOUNDED. You would have thought Santa Clause AND the Tooth Fairy had just visited. He was bouncing around, so happy, dancing, climbing on it, laughing, just goosey! He went to his bedroom to get lambie and showed lambie his new table! It went on and on! I hope to see this excitement again. It was VERY entertaining.
