First Halloween! and other Fall Firsts!

Tonight, we spent Halloween as I have for the past 29 years-at my parent's house, dinner, pictures and trick-or-treating! We had fun taking Jeffrey to see, (and meet many of,) the neighbors. It is still a great place for trick-or-treating!

October Celebrations!

We had a wonderful October birthday celebration for Brant, Aunt Jen and Uncle Mark at our house Friday night. We had burgers and Mom's incredible carrot cake, then went to our neighborhood park to see Two Tons of Steel. (Jen's perspective on her blog here!) Brant's birthday was yesterday and his mom was in town and took us to a great lunch at Tejas Rodeo. Jeffrey got to see his first longhorns. Today Brant went dove hunting with his Dad. So glad to be able to celebrate these occasions with our loving family!

Thank you, Mom for a special gift

My mom brought a scrapbook over the other day that she made when I was a baby. It's not my baby book, it's just a scrapbook of letters and cards family and friends wrote when I was born. While Jeffrey is napping today, I finally sat down and read it all. It was the most enjoyable experience I've had in a while! I mean, full on letters updating what each person or family was doing and asking questions of my parents, sending actual messages of love, concern and care. It makes me sad that we don't hand write letters to people as much anymore. Although I try to, it's becoming less and less. I do think there is something very important about those words on actual paper that can be saved for years and years without changing formats or technology to view it! Thank you, Mom for collecting these special words from special people, many of whom are gone now. It really meant a lot to me today.

321-BLAST OFF! First Costume Party!

It's almost Halloween and that means costume time! Brant had a great idea for Jeffrey to be Buzz Light Year for Halloween to incorporate his helmet, but all the costumes I could find for that were kind of eh, so I thought about football player or astronaut...something to go with the helmet. I found this costume and it is perfect! We went to his first costume party today with our play group. We missed the group picture because of his helmet adjustment appointment, (which was fantastic-he is improving very quickly.) Some of the babies tired of their costumes early. It was a great party and wonderful mix of mammas and lots of Happy Halloween babies!

Busy, Busy 7 Month Old!

Our boy is 7 months old today! There were just way too many cute pictures to choose from this month, so I've included a LOT! Jeffrey is noticeably stronger every day and growing in all kinds of ways. We read, sing, play and listen to music when we are at home. We are keeping busy with our play groups and meeting up with friends and family. One of my friends says we really should get paid 500K for this job because it's so hard. I agree, but it is worth every second!
This month we've had some fun weekends with Daddy-Pearl brewery, Market Square and Mi Tierra, child-proofing the house, his 20th high school reunion and other outings! We've had great visits with Aunt Jen, Alice, Sonja, RJ and Jenni. We've gone to a craft fair and hosted a play date. Brant and I have continued our weekly class at church and Gigi babysits every Wednesday night. Leaving Jeffrey is a lot easier now that he will take a few ounces from a bottle. I've been able to get together with friends and go to night time events more. He's loving his Daddy and gets SO excited when he gets home from work. He is ok with other people holding him a lot more too, (whew!)
Jeffrey is full of laughter. He is starting to say consonant sounds and babbles a lot. No tooth yet, but it's under there and it's coming! Drooling like crazy! He is happy sitting and playing with his toys for pretty long periods of time and only wakes to eat once at night now. Our little boy is growing up! Bigger every day!

He found that shadow on the back of his high chair the other day-funny.

First time in the grocery cart, (usually I wear him in the sling)

I THINK Jeffrey said "mamma" when trying to get my attention at the grocery check out! The cashier gave him a sticker, (first of many I am sure!)
